topping
  • 1 cup crispy fried onions

Equipment

  • 1 6-quart air fryer
  • 1 7-inch round oven-safe baking dish

Method

Make the casserole
  1. Preheat a 6-quart air fryer to 350°F for 3 minutes.
  2. Lightly coat a 7-inch round oven-safe baking dish that fits in the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
  3. In a 2-quart bowl, stir together the green beans, cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, and black pepper.
  4. Transfer the mixture to the prepared dish.
  5. Air-fry at 350°F for 12–16 minutes, until bubbling around the edges and hot in the center.
Add the topping
  1. Scatter the crispy fried onions evenly over the casserole.
  2. Air-fry for 1–3 minutes, checking every minute, until golden brown.
Rest and serve
  1. Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Drain the green beans well to help keep the casserole from turning watery. Refrigerate leftovers for 3–4 days; freezing is not recommended because the texture can suffer. For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free cream of mushroom soup, tamari, and crispy fried onions.
