Ingredients

Meatloaf
  • 1 tbsp olive oil divided
  • 0.5 cup yellow onion finely diced
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 2 lb ground turkey 93% lean
  • 0.75 cup plain breadcrumbs fine
  • 0.33 cup whole milk
  • 1 egg large
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
Glaze
  • 1 cup cranberry sauce whole-berry
  • 2 tbsp orange juice
  • 1 tsp orange zest finely grated
  • 1 tbsp fresh sage chopped
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard

Equipment

  • 1 9x5-inch loaf pan
  • 1 10-inch skillet

Method

Make the meatloaf
  1. Heat the oven to 350°F and lightly grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan with 1 teaspoon of the olive oil.
  2. Heat the remaining 2 teaspoons olive oil in a 10-inch skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and cook for 4–5 minutes until softened, then add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  3. Transfer the onion mixture to a plate and let cool for 5 minutes.
  4. In a large bowl, gently mix the turkey, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, salt, pepper, and cooled onion mixture just until combined.
  5. Shape the mixture into a loaf in the prepared pan.
  6. Bake for 40 minutes.
Make the glaze
  1. While the meatloaf bakes, combine the cranberry sauce, orange juice, orange zest, sage, and Dijon mustard in a small saucepan.
  2. Bring to a simmer over medium heat and cook, stirring, for 5–7 minutes until slightly thickened.
Glaze and finish
  1. Brush 1/2 cup of the glaze over the top of the meatloaf.
  2. Return the pan to the oven and bake for 20–30 minutes, until the center of the meatloaf reaches 165°F.
  3. Let the meatloaf rest in the pan for 10 minutes, then slice and serve with the remaining glaze.

Notes

For a tender loaf, gently mix the turkey mixture just until combined and check the center reaches 165°F. Refrigerate leftovers for 3–4 days; freezer-friendly. For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free breadcrumbs.
