Ingredients

  • 1 lb breakfast sausage bulk
  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese shredded
  • 2 cans (8 oz) crescent roll dough refrigerated

Equipment

  • 1 12-inch skillet
  • 2 large baking sheets

Method

  1. Heat the oven to 375°F.
  2. Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper.
  3. Cook the sausage in a 12-inch skillet over medium heat, breaking it into small crumbles, for 8–10 minutes until browned and cooked to 160°F.
  4. Drain excess grease.
  5. Reduce the heat to low.
  6. Stir in the cream cheese and cheddar until melted and combined.
  7. Transfer the filling to a bowl and let it cool for 10 minutes.
  8. Separate the crescent dough into 16 triangles.
  9. Divide the filling evenly among the wide ends.
  10. Roll each triangle toward its point, tucking in the sides to contain the filling.
  11. Place the crescents on the baking sheets.
  12. Bake at 375°F for 12–16 minutes, rotating the pans halfway through, until the crescents are puffed and golden brown.

Notes

Let the filling cool for the full 10 minutes so it is easier to roll into the dough. Refrigerate leftovers for up to 3 days; freezer storage is suitable. For a leaner option, use turkey breakfast sausage.
