Ingredients

  • 1 tsp unsalted butter melted, for greasing
  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry about 8.6 ounces, thawed
  • 8 oz Brie cheese cut into 12 pieces
  • 0.5 cup pecans chopped
  • 0.25 cup pure maple syrup

Equipment

  • 1 12-cup standard muffin pan

Method

  1. Heat the oven to 400°F and brush the wells of a 12-cup standard muffin pan with the melted butter.
  2. Unfold the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut it into 12 equal squares.
  3. Press one pastry square into each muffin well.
  4. Put one piece of Brie in each pastry cup.
  5. Divide the pecans and maple syrup evenly among the cups.
  6. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes, until the pastry is puffed and deep golden and the Brie is melted.
  7. Let the bites rest in the pan for 5 minutes.
  8. Carefully lift the bites out and serve warm.

Notes

For the best texture, serve the bites warm soon after baking. Refrigerate leftovers for up to 3 days; freezing is not recommended. For a dairy-free variation, use plant-based butter and dairy-free Brie-style cheese.
